Exotic Korean Flavors with Elegance: il Song Garden

Korean food is definitely one of my favorite cuisines, and I know the good stuff when I taste it.  Il Song Garden really highlights the exotic and elegant flavors of Korean cuisine.  The amazing Chef Young steps above the rest with her meticulous standards for the freshest and highest quality ingredients.  This becomes increasingly evident with each culinary award her restaurant wins.  A few notable awards include Zagat, Express News Reader's Choice, and the San Antonio Current's best Korean restaurant for 2008 and 2009.

My favorite dishes are the beef bulgogi (if you can get there for their bulgogi lunch special from 11am-3pm , M-F, you're in for a real treat!), yuk gae jang (spicy beef soup), man doo guk (dumpling soup).  Their dumplings, whether pan fried as the Yaki Mandu appetizer, or in the soup are hearty, filling and phenomenal.  The beef bulgogi has rich flavors of soy and sesame marinade, and a delightful char from being flame grilled.  They have a chicken bulgogi as well, but features a rich, spicy sauce- and the chicken is so tender!  You can also find Chef Young's specialty menu for the discerning palate, including the finest ingredients of beef tenderloin, prime ribeye, and market seafood.

The decor of the restaurant is simple yet traditional, perhaps what you would expect from an Asian style restaurant, but take notice of some of the elegant details that raise the bar to other Asian establishments in San Antonio.

They also have a nice selection of Asian beers, so be adventurous and give one a try.  They also feature a large selection of wine, and they have a nice sushi bar with traditional, and modern sushi variations.

Get your taste buds ready and enjoy the traditional flavors of Korea with a modern and elegant twist for the amazingly talented Chef Young and her family!  You just might find me there enjoying my favorite cuisine, since it's a regular eatery I visit.  I just can't get enough of it!
