Set It & Forget It: Sweet-n-Savory Slow Cooker Pork Chops

Whenever I bust out the slow cooker, this is my go-to recipe. My better half used to despise pork chops of any kind...until he tasted my recipe! Now he lights up whenever I say, "pork chops," for dinner, because he knows it won't disappoint. You can make this recipe during the week or on a weekend, the assembly is easy to do before work/during a lunch hour, and you set it and forget it. By dinnertime you will be the star of your house.

You have NO idea how difficult it was to keep these chops for falling apart ;)

Cara's Easy Signature Slow Cooker Pork Chops:

- 4 or 5 Pork Chops, bone-in
- 3/4 cup Orange Juice
- 1/2 cup Brown Sugar, packed
- 3 tablespoons Soy Sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon Ground Ginger
- 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
- 1 teaspoon Onion Powder
- 2-3 tablespoons Corn Starch

Whisk all liquids and seasonings in the bottom of your slow cooker vessel until combined and brown sugar is somewhat dissolved. Place chops in the liquid and flip them around to coat them with the liquid. Set your slow cooker on high for 6 hours or on low for 7-8 hours. You can also make this with frozen chops, but allow about 2 more hours to your cooking time.

Cara's Tips: It's really important to use bone-in meat when using the slow cooker, because bones = flavor! This is especially true when you are cooking for long periods of time, such as over the stovetop with soups, stews, and braises as well. If you like a thick sauce, add a bit more cornstarch, if you like it more as a glaze, use less corn starch. I usually serve this with a side of steamed broccoli, but you can use other veggies or even a rice pilaf. You can also use the leftover liquid to pour over the veggies, in case you have some kiddos or a significant other who won't eat their greens.

Enjoy reaping the rewards of a meal that was cooked all day, without slaving over the stove for it. I know I do!
